depends on what the demand for opium is like. Since the opium plants grow better in the South, it’s hard for her to make profit. She is therefore dependent on other suppliers, such as her second cousin in the South.

Her goal is to make enough profit with her opium business so that she can support her family.  

Needs:

Consciously, she needs to make enough money to provide for her family and grow a life together. Unconsciously, she mostly wants to be able to get out of her toxic relationship with her husband and run away with her baby.  

Likes:

Amber likes to bake with her family and to visit the copper mines. Her favorite hobby is smoking opium. She also has a lot of copper necklaces.  

Dislikes:

she dislikes the regime of South Copium, despite the poor living conditions she has in North Copium. She hated her school, the teachers and the discipline.

She is an recreational opium smoker but has never done any other drugs. She doesn’t understand politics, but does know that she’s not a fan of either Prince Jarne or Princess Elise.

A Day in the Life of Amber Wells 

Morning: Amber wakes up early, around 6 AM, to the sound of her husband getting ready for the day. Her morning begins with preparing a simple breakfast of bread and cheese, and despite her exhaustion from the pregnancy, she pushes herself to keep up. As she eats, her mind drifts to her goal of making enough profit at the market to one day escape this life. 

After breakfast, she makes her way to the local market in North Copium. It’s a rough crowd, but she knows most of them well. Her work as an opium dealer is a risky business, and today she’s hoping for a good sale. Her suppliers from the South have been unreliable lately, and the plants up North haven’t been growing well. Amber’s husband, though much older, keeps pressuring her to bring in more income. 

Midday: As the sun climbs higher, Amber sits at her small stall in the market, keeping an eye on the passing crowd. She manages to make a few sales, but competition is fierce. Her mind constantly drifts to her second cousin in South Copium, wondering if he’ll come through with a better batch next week. 

During her breaks, she smokes some opium herself. It’s her way of unwinding, though she knows deep down it’s a habit she should break—especially with her baby on the way. The pregnancy makes her sluggish, but the opium helps dull the mental fog. Her optimism never fades, though. In between sales, she smiles, imagining a future where she can raise her baby away from the toxic grasp of her husband. 

Afternoon: After a hard day of selling, Amber heads back home, stopping by her family’s house first. Baking poppy seed muffins with her cousins is a regular tradition that keeps her spirits up. The house smells of flour and the warmth of family. Though they are poor, their family bond is tight, and Amber cherishes these moments. The laughter and chatter ease the tension of her hard life. 

She’s wearing her favorite copper necklaces today, a reminder of her fondness for the North’s copper mines. Though she dislikes her current circumstances, she finds solace in the small pleasures of life—family, baking, and her ever-growing collection of copper trinkets. 

Evening: As night falls, Amber’s husband returns home. Their relationship is strained—he’s older, controlling, and she longs to escape. She avoids confrontation, focusing instead on making a simple dinner. The weight of her future weighs heavily on her mind, but she’s determined. Her unborn child is her motivation to dream of a better life. 

In the quiet moments before bed, she sits outside, looking up at the stars. Her mind races with possibilities: will her cousin come through with a better batch? Will she be able to save enough money to leave? For now, she keeps her head high, despite the uncertainty.
